Fun and games @7:07 PM

day 4 - your most significant childhood memory

In primary school we had a staircase leading up to the canteen and the stairs were really wide. The bottom of the staircase was part of the playground where we would play handball.
One the staircase we used to play a game called Poison Day.
I don't know when my friends and I started playing and how we started play it but it was one of the most fun games that we had.

So the game would start at the top of the stairs and there would be a person who was "in" at the bottom of the stairs. The person was in would pick two "poison days". Because the staircase had seven stairs, which ever days were picked, would correspond to a day, e.g Sunday and Tuesday would be the last and second steps.
The people who weren't in had to run down the stairs without stepping on the "poison days" and had to run across the handball area (it was about the same length as the basketball court) without getting tipped by the person who was in. If a person stepped on the "poison days" or was tipped, they would be in. And if we decided the game was too boring, we would let the person who was in step on the steps which they decided were the "poison days" or have more people be in.

I think it was more fun actually playing it and it was something that we spent a lot of our lunchtimes doing. I remember one time having to tell a huge amount of kids that they couldn't play the game with us because there were just too many other kids playing too.

I don't know why I thought of this, I guess it just brings back a lot of good memories.
