= gender @7:27 PM

One of the things that really frustrate me are double standards, especially ones to do with gender.
I watched a movie in english and the husband leaves the wife because she is dedicating her life to the students she was teaching and not spending enough time with him and he wasn't really happy.

When I originally read the synopsis, I thought this guy was a douchebag. I mean how selfish is it to leave your wife because she isn't spending time with you?

That was what I thought before watching the movie. After watching the movie, I felt differently.
Maybe it was how it was acted out or maybe it was just a poor synopsis but after the movie I sympathised for the husband.

In the movie he explains to his wife that he still loves her and the reason he is leaving her is because it feels like it's just him in the relationship.

Although I felt that was a reasonable explanation as to why he was leaving her, I know some people who still thought of him as a douchebag.

And that's what made me think about double standards, especially ones surrounding males.
I feel like I always see females being always seen as the unfortunate ones but in some ways it's the males.

Just say in this movie, there was a role reversal, I don't think the wife would be a considered a bitch but "strong" and "powerful" and that makes me really sad. The husband had every right to leave that relationship because he was unhappy, I don't understand why if it was a female leaving the relationship she's the cool one and the male is the dick?

This based on people I know's reaction to when the husband to leaving the wife and maybe some people feel the same as I do but that double standard gets me.

If a guy leaves a girl, he's the ass. A girl leaves the guy and she's awesome and cool.

I think a majority of people who think this way are females and I feel like females need to think more about their opinions. There is nothing wrong with feeling like women are dominant and powerful but you really need to think about the situation as well.

Males cop too much from females. Sometimes they deserve and sometimes it's just females being egotistical and biased.

Yeah, of course there are times where there isn't that double standard at all but I'm talking about it in this post because I feel like I'm seeing this alot lately and it's been really annoying.
